How To Choose The Right Supplement – And Why One Micronutrient Concentrate Deserves a Closer Look

3 MIN READ • 5th December 2025

More and more people are turning to dietary supplements to promote good health, but identifying the best option isn’t always easy. Here are some expert tips to consider

The cells in our bodies need the right fuel to keep billions of biochemical processes running. This fuel includes a wide range of micronutrients (vitamins and trace elements). However, a large-scale study by Harvard University found that over half of people consume too little iron, folic acid, vitamins D, C and E, as well as selenium and iodine, and the majority of people would benefit from taking a daily dietary supplement.

When selecting a supplement it is important to choose a suitable product and a manufacturer you can trust. Here’s what to keep in mind.

Broad spectrum instead of individual substances

Many people opt for single supplements such as vitamin C or B12 or small combinations such as vitamin D + K. According to nutritionist and micronutrient expert Dunja Rieber, this is rarely ideal because micronutrients work best in a large team where they support and complement each other.

“A broad-spectrum supplement that contains all the important vitamins and trace elements creates a stable basis for everyday life and makes it much easier to ensure an adequate supply,” she explains.

The right dosage

In addition to the composition, a sensible dosage is crucial. Rieber criticises the fact that many products contain far too high doses of individual substances and too little of others, while some are missing completely. It can also be difficult to check doses if you are using different products that overlap in the vitamins they provide. This is not an optimal approach and risks deficiency or overdose. Rieber recommends a moderate, balanced dosage, which provides a reliable supply but does not risk overdose.

Clean ingredients

It is not only the ingredients themselves that are important, but also what should be avoided. Artificial colours and preservatives, flavourings or fillers add nothing to our diet. As Rieber advises, “The more natural a product is, the closer it resembles the diet the human body was meant to ingest and metabolise.”

LaVita: a holistic all-in-one product

One product that is able to meet these recommendations and has been frequently recommended by both experts and users for years is the liquid micronutrient concentrate LaVita. It combines the full spectrum of all important vitamins and trace elements with more than 70 natural ingredients, including fruit, vegetables, herbs and high-quality oils. It also contains enzymes, plenty of fibre and valuable omega-3 fatty acids. Unnecessary additives such as preservatives, colourings and fillers are deliberately avoided.

The ingredients in LaVita are high quality, strictly controlled, and their dosage is based on scientific findings, in particular recommendations from orthomolecular medicine.1 Despite the complex formula, it is extremely easy to use: simply stir a spoonful of the concentrate into water and drink it once or (if you have increased needs) twice a day – that’s it.

Studies and experience confirm the effect

More than 40,000 experts from the healthcare sector recommend LaVita, and with good reason. An internationally published study shows that the daily intake of LaVita improves all measured vitamin levels in the blood, meaning that the micronutrients are reliably absorbed and available to the cells.

LaVita is also very well received by the general public: in a representative survey,2 over 80% of users reported more energy,3 a noticeable support of the immune system4 and visible improvements in skin, hair and nails.5 More than 50,000 positive online reviews and high levels of repeat customers underscore the high level of user satisfaction.

Service and advice

LaVita is manufactured in Germany, and the company offers personal advice from trained health consultants. This direct service increases transparency and builds trust – an important factor when it comes to a daily health companion. LaVita is only available directly from the manufacturer to preserve quality.

LaVita – a company with 25 years of tradition

LaVita was founded by former professional ice hockey player Gerd Truntschka, who, as captain of the German national team, was looking for a well-thought-out and practical source of micronutrients instead of constantly trying new trendy supplements.

After his sporting career, he devoted himself intensively to the creation of LaVita in collaboration with experts: a natural, liquid micronutrient concentrate for the whole family that combines all the important vitamins and trace elements in a single, easy-to-use product.
